What are you doing, anyway?

August 27, 2009

drawing spaces for gameThis term, as noted, I have a small class. As these children have just left school behind 30 minutes before Arithmetic Village begins, I try to do lots of fun outside games as much as possible. The story center is directly opposite the Library, which means that other kids are hanging around watching us. Yesterday, after our chalk game, we were mimicking Linus, loosing jewels in fun silly ways, while keeping track of the loses. (This is actually highly academic stuff.) So Naturally other children started migrating to the fun. One finally asked a boy in the course, “what are you doing anyway?”. “We are in a drama class called arithmetic village!”, he answered. I never really thought about  the workshop in those terms, but he was right. 🙂
